Jersey meat

Special Jersey beef from Jersey bulls is now available for purchase at De Roek.

At the cheese farm “de Groote Voort” in Lunteren, you’ll find around 90 Jersey cows.
The Jersey cow is a small breed that is well-suited for organic farming.
It’s an efficient cow that produces rich milk with relatively little feed. The Jersey cow is also known for its intelligence.

De Roek is a selling point for this unique Jersey beef, available for both guests and non-guests. You can find this meat in the freezer at the shop by the reception. If you’d like to place a larger order, it’s best to email us in advance at info@deroek.nl or call during office hours at 0318 59 17 57.

We offer the following cuts: ground beef, hamburgers, sausages, brisket, smoked sausage, and steak.

No other types of meat have been added, for instance, there is no pork in the smoked sausages. The smoked sausage is only smoked in a natural casing, with no added spices. The hamburgers and sausages are seasoned with an organic spice mix that is gluten-free.

Further Information

The Jersey beef cannot officially be labeled as organic since it is not (yet) certified. Currently, certification is expensive due to the fact that the animals graze in 10 different locations, all of which would need separate certification. However, the animals are raised and fed following minimum organic standards. The bulls retain their horns and are not castrated. Antibiotics are not used. The land where they graze is free from pesticides and artificial fertilizers.
