Hiking or cycling.

Away from the crowds, you can enjoy wonderful hiking and cycling in the beautiful Veluwe nature. The area is perfectly suited for a lovely walk or bike ride. You can easily access the Otterlo forest or De Zanding, and a bit further away, there’s De Planken Wambuis.

You can also complement your peaceful vacation with a cultural excursion. The beautiful Hoge Veluwe National Park (famous for its white bicycles) with the Kröller-Müller Museum is just a 15-minute walk away from De Roek Holiday Cottages.

  

Mealservice on Friday

Every Friday, our chefs prepare a delicious vegetarian meal for those who are interested. If you arrive on a Friday, the meal will be ready for you upon arrival. Of the €7.50 per person cost for the meal, €1 goes towards a culinary training project for chefs in Bolivia. Read more about the project here.

Petting Zoo

We also have a delightful Petting Zoo on our park, where young children can participate in caring for the animals. We have chickens, pigs, sheep, a pony, and every spring, the young lambs happily around.

Fun facts:

• We provide 80% of De Roek’s entire energy consumption with solar panels. On sunny days our consumption is lower than our production and we are a net supplier to the electricity grid.
• We have a charging point for electric cars.
• At the petting zoo, you may also meet one of our facilitators with participants. The Roek is also a Care Company (day care) five days a week.
• Your pets are allowed in several bungalows; It’s also possible to stay in a pet-free accommodation.
• For the animals at the petting zoo, we collect “over date” vegetables and bread from the local supermarket every day.
• We feed organic kibble and when available organic hay and straw.
• During your quiet vacation, also enjoy a drink on our terrace. On our terrace we serve coffee, tea or juice on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. This served with a cookie specially developed by our cook: a Hopke.
