Photo hut Veluwe

At De Roek, we have established a beautiful photo hide in a quiet spot within our forest. You can rent the hide to take photos of squirrels and various bird species. Even without a camera, it’s wonderful to sit in the hide and observe everything, as it feels like you’re watching a nature documentary. Curious about what it looks like? Take a look at the video below.

What’s to see at the photo hide?

The photo hide in the Veluwe is a specialized structure or shelter designed to provide nature photographers and wildlife enthusiasts the opportunity to observe and photograph animals in their natural environment without disturbing them. The hide is strategically placed in areas where a lot of animal activity is expected, such as feeding spots or watering holes. It offers a chance to closely observe and capture animals, often using cameras with telephoto lenses.

From the hide, you overlook a pond where many birds come to drink and bathe, especially during dry weather. Additionally, feeding is done around the pond, ensuring the presence of squirrels and birds throughout the day, even in wetter conditions.

The hide is built into the ground to provide a low-angle perspective, placing the birds at eye level. To make the hide appealing to a wide audience, we designed it with the use of a 300mm lens in mind. However, other lenses, both larger and smaller, can also work well.

The hide can accommodate up to three people, each having ample seating space to ensure plenty of room for quiet photography or filming without disturbing others.
