Tick bites

Preventing tick bites

Ticks are present all over the Netherlands, including the Veluwe region. They are commonly found in natural areas. Ticks are most active during the summer months. While a tick bite is often harmless, in some cases, it can lead to the highly unpleasant Lyme disease.

To prevent the risk of this disease, the website of the Tick-Borne Diseases Foundation provides several recommendations. Here are a few of them:

  • Wear well-fitting clothing and tuck the legs of long pants into socks.
  • Check your body for ticks every time after spending time in a natural area.
  • Remove the tick as soon as possible, remember the location where it was attached, and disinfect the area.

If you have any questions or need a tick removed, you can always visit our reception.
