Our small-scale holiday park, De Roek, is a delightful place for young children, and of course, for you as parents. A peaceful park located in the Veluwe forest, with a fantastic playground for little explorers and an extensive petting zoo. The perfect spot for a wonderful vacation with young children.
Enjoy the cheerful birdsongs and the delightful surroundings, with the forest and heathland just a 5-minute walk throw away. The cottages are generously spaced, and you’ll have your own terrace and garden. There are even cottages with a fenced garden!

Petting Zoo
A vacation with young children calls for a visit to our petting zoo. Here, the children can delight in interacting with all the animals: pet the guinea pigs and rabbits, observe the busy chickens, chuckle at our amusing Kuune Kuune pigs, and in spring, admire the newborn lambs.
Every day, children have the opportunity to help Neil feed the animals and take a ride on our gentle Tinker horse. Neil only takes a break on Sundays.
While at the petting zoo, you might also encounter one of our supervisors with participants. De Roek operates as a care company (providing day activities and youth support) six days a week as well.
Sourroundings
The Hoge Veluwe National Park with the Kröller-Müller Museum – which is also very enjoyable for children – is just a 15-minute walk away from De Roek Holiday Bungalows.
From your holiday bungalow, you can easily walk into natural areas such as the Otterlose Bos and De Zanding, or a bit further to De Planken Wambuis. There are also many opportunities to explore the surroundings by bike. It’s wonderful to have the convenience of easily heading out during your vacation with young children.
A swimming pool is also quite nearby: De Zanding offers a natural swimming area (outdoor), and there is also an indoor swimming pool with wellness facilities available there.
Fun facts
- We provide for 80% of De Roek’s total energy consumption with 132 solar panels.
- We have a charging station for electric cars.
- We occasionally organize interesting activities like “moth spotting.”
- Your pet is welcome too! Bring your dog or rabbit along to our holiday park; pets are allowed in these cottages.
- For the animals at the petting zoo, we collect ‘expired’ vegetables and bread from the local supermarket every day.
- We provide organic pellets and, if available, organic hay and straw.
- Every Sunday, there’s an opportunity for a walk with our forest ranger.
- On our terrace, we serve coffee, tea, or a juice on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. This is accompanied by a special cookie developed by our chef: a “Hopke.”
